La Historia del Cepillo Dental
Según la Historia, el primer cepillo dental fue utilizado por los antiguos Egipcios, y la idea básicamente fue una ramita del tamaño de un lápiz. que se frotaban inicialmente contra los dientes sin ningún abrasivo adicional.
En 1498 los chinos fueron los primeros en utilizar cepillos con cerdas, las cuales extraídas manualmente, del cuello del cerdo, estas eran cosidas a unos mangos de bambú o de hueso. Los mercaderes que visitaban Oriente introdujeron el cepillo dental chino entre los europeos, quienes consideraron que estas cerdas tenían una dureza excesivamente irritante.
En 1938 gracias al Dr. West las cerdas naturales, fueron reemplazadas por un material artificial más factible : el Nylon, el cual poseia las ventajas de ser mas rigido, indeformable y resistente a la humedad.
No cabe duda que el Dr. West fue el precursor de los cepillos dentales que hoy en dia estan en el comercio y que gracias a el tenemos en nuestras manos el comodo instrumento que es la base para nuestra salud bucal.
